Catherine Jones

I am an integratively trained counsellor and supervisor working in private practice in Cardiff and Monmouth. I have also worked as a visiting lecturer at the University of South Wales and as Lead Counsellor for Newport Community Counselling Service (now South Wales Counselling and Psychotherapy - where I am currently a supervisor).

After completing my Post Graduate Diploma at the University of Wales, Newport, I went on to do a Masters in Counselling. My dissertation, In Search of Cassandra *, was an autoethnographic inquiry into the breakdown of a relationship which had lasted 25 years. I was pleased to be awarded a distinction for this work and presented a paper on it at the Newport Research Conference in 2014 as prizewinner for that year. My interest in this methodology has increased since the Masters and I passionately believe in the transformative power of working therapeutically with story.

I specialise in working with people who are on the autistic spectrum and their family members and believe that raising awareness of the specific issues this client group faces can facilitate wider acceptance of neuro-diversity in our culture and society.
